Rabbit Control

One over wintering rabbit on just one hectare can reduce wheat yields by 1%. By catching the main breeding stock, studies have shown that each doe caught will mean at least twenty fewer rabbits in the summer ! We work closely with farm managers, land owners and keepers in order to accomodate cropping schedules, avoid shoot days and sensitive areas. All work is followed through with regular check ups, repeat treatments and written reports with recommendations if required.

One of the best methods of control which gives exceptional results, where other methods have failed, is Rabbit Drop Boxes. These are used in conjunction with rabbit proof fencing. These are ideal for setting along roads, railway lines, woods and adjoining land where access cannot be obtained or where discretion is required, as in schools and playing fields. These can be retro fitted to existing fence lines and help stop penetration by rabbits trying to dig through etc. This turns a passive rabbit fence into a efficient permanent rabbit catching system.

We supply, install and maintain Rabbit Box Traps as well as advising on fencing which we also install.

In most situations the need for rabbit control is evidently clear. The main types of techniques used for rabbit control and clearance are presented below:

Trapping (live capture plus spring traps)
Shooting
Ferreting
Gassing
Long netting
Drop boxes (traps) used alongside rabbit proof fencing
Rabbit proof fence and fencing installation
Electric fence installation.
We undertake rabbit control using all the above methods as and when appropriate and indeed there is seasonal variation in which technique is the most effective.

It should be noted that under the Pests Act 1954 every occupier of land has a responsible duty to control rabbits on their land.

We provide not only one-off clearance solutions but also yearly contractual services to ensure numbers remain low.
